Starting your voyage on the Sea Gipsy is fast and easy.
There are several methods of transportation available.
The first stop is getting to Kawthaung, Myanmar or Ranong, Thailand.
- By Air from Yangon to Kawthaung
Flights are available daily from Yangon to Kawthaung. Please check with your travel agent for the current schedule. We will pick you up at Kawthaung airport and bring you to the jetty where Boulder Island Express is waiting to start your adventure to the Boulder Bay Eco Resort.
- By Air from Bangkok to Ranong
Nok Air offers inexpensive and reliable transportation from Bangkok to Ranong with two flights daily. One in the morning and one in the evening. The popular time schedule should suit everyone’s’ schedule.
- By Bus from Bangkok to Ranong
Ranong can easily be reached by bus from Bangkok, Surat Thani, Chumphon and centres further south such as Phuket and Khao Lak. From Bangkok, both government and private VIP buses leave from the Southern Bus Terminal and the journey time is about 9 hours. You can stay overnight at Ranong at a good local hotel in the city for around 700 THB or 20 USD. Ask the local drivers (taxi, tuk-tuk) to bring you there.
Overnight buses leave Bangkok at around 20:00-21:00 and get to Ranong in time for the morning ferries. Daytime buses also leave around 09:00 but these arrive in Ranong too late to catch a ferry the same day. Cheaper but less comfortable second class air-con buses are also available. A VIP bus costs 666 baht (departs Bangkok 20:00) and a first class bus 428 baht (departs Bangkok 20:30).
- From Phuket
By taxi or by bus. Busses leave Phuket Bus station every two to three hours to Ranong. Check the schedule locally to get the correct times.
- Once at Ranong...
From Ranong, clearing through Thai immigration is a breeze. Next, board a longtail to Kawthaung and your adventure begins. Once there, our staff will assist you with Myanmar immigration. One more quick longtail ride to board the Boulder Island Express and leave your cares on the dock as your holiday begins.
